Mrs. Burks later moved her membership to First Baptist Church-Vine Street under Noble B. Russey where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Usher Board until her health started to decline. She worked as a cook in the city of Malvern for different restaurants especially the "Magnolia Cafe" ,  a dietary cook at Still Meadows Nursing Home now Arbor Oaks Nursing Home, Senior Adult Center and was a foster grandparent at the  Headstart Program.
