IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles Ray
Bass
February 10, 1987 – October 22, 2023
Charles Ray Bass, 36 of Hot Springs, Arkansas transitioned on Sunday October 22, 2023 at National Park Medical Center-Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was born on February 10, 1987 in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late Annie M. Bass. Charles grew up in Grambling, Louisiana. He loved playing baseball and singing in the choir at church. After moving to Arkansas, he became a member of the Historic Eureka Missionary Baptist Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas. In May of 2010, he met Chenevia S. Ellis. On January 24, 2014 they became one and to this union, two daughters were born. Charles was a loving and devoted husband, father and took the role of being a great step-father. He enjoyed cooking meals for his family and dancing, in his favorite words "Don't watch me, watch my feet." Charles also loved joking around and putting smiles on people's faces, never meeting a stranger. He worked various jobs, the ones where he was a cook, he enjoyed them the most. He was a die hard Dallas Cowboy fan. Charles spirit and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother; Annie M. Bass and grandfather; David K. Bass. Charles leaves behind to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife; Chenevia S. Ellis-Bass, five children; Kaylee Roton, Cheniyah Bass, Jamee' Bass, Chemori Ellis and Chekare Ellis, father; Raymond Coleman, five sisters; Annalysha Bass, Carrie Bridges, Danyelda Bass, Toccora Bass and Keyonna Bass, one brother; Delarryo Bass, special cousin; Nicholas Williams. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law; Cheryl Ellis-Walker, two sisters-in-law; Chequilla Lassiter, Chemise Ellis and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. You can shed tears that he is gone, or you can smile because he has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that he'll come back, or you can open your eyes and see all he's left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see him, or you can be full of the love you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember him only that he is gone, or you can cherish his memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back. Or you can do what he'd want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on. Samuel L.
