Connie Mae Crain, the eldest daughter of the late Richard and Elsie Dobbins Smith, was born on April 23, 1919. She departed her earthly home on Monday, January 29, 2018.
Sister Crain was reared in Leola, Arkansas but spent most of her adult life living in Malvern, Arkansas where she raised her two sons, a niece (Marie Langston), a nephew (Kevin Smith) and a great-granddaughter (Tachenea Kapree). Her home was always open to family and friends.
As a young child she attended Sunday school and Church Services regularly and this gave her a very good understanding of how to accept Jesus Christ as her Savior. She was baptized as a Methodist and when she moved to Malvern, Arkansas she joined Bethel A.M.E. Church and worked diligently in the Church always willing to do whatever to foster the Christian cause. She never refused to help in any worthy cause.
Married Trodis Walker, who departed this life before his son Tradis was born. She married Selma Crain while her sons were very young and when Mr. Crain became ill later in life she took excellent care of him until his death.
Sister Crain worked hard for two of Malverns black owned cleaners, Utah Jones and Jesse Hawkins until her health began fail.
Sister Crain was preceded in death by one son: John Henry Stovall, brothers: Elvis Smith and Hershel Smith, sisters: Carretter Smith and Jessie Smith, grandson: Deamone Walker.
Sister Crain is survived by son: Tradis Walker, sister: Darris Mitchell, Daughter in-Law Priscilla Stovall, grandchildren: Terry Stovall, Tracy Dwight Walker (Shereen), DeWayne Walker, DeShaun Walker, Roman Walker, Demetrious Walker, Eunice Walker, Micole Walker-Hicks, Monique Hobbs (Bryan), twenty-two great-grandchildren: six great-great grandchildren, several nephews, nieces, and great nephews and great nieces and many cousins.
