Obituary

Dennis Ray Calvin was born September 15, 1957 in Benton, Arkansas to the late Albert Calvin, Sr. and the late Frankie Mae White Calvin. Dennis departed his life on Monday, November 4, 2019 at the age of 62 years old.

Dennis grew up in the Ralph Bunche Community and was a 1975 graduate of Benton Senior High School. Dennis had a passion for playing basketball and was very talent in the game. He was so quick and could steal the ball from the opposing team so fast that he was nicknamed "The Flea". Dennis joined the United States Army on April 26, 1979, serving three years as he rose to the rank of SP4, Medical Specialist. Dennis was a long time employee of the first Kroger that open inBenton. Dennis's last job was with Rib Crib in Benton. He started working for Rib Crib the day they open their doors and stayed until his health forced him to retire.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Albert Calvin, Sr. and Frankie Mae White Calvin; his grandparents, Joel White, Sr. and Alma Lindsey White; Jim Calvin, Sr. and Ida Mae Johnson Calvin and close special cousin Jerry "Shawn" Danner.

Dennis leaves to cherish his memory, life partner Charlotte Maudin; three daughters, Tamiko Johnson and Whitnie(Jay) Smith of Benton, AR and Jasmine Calvin of Little Rock, AR; four grandsons; Tamario Beaugard of Bolivar, MO; Terek Beaugard of Arlington, Texas, Raphael Hampton II of Little Rock, AR and Eddie Poland of Fayetteville, AR; three sisters, Alma Stokes, Linda Larkin and Evelyn Reed all of Benton, AR; three brothers, Albert (Lucille) Calvin, Jr. of Greenville, MS, Samuel (Wanda) Calvin and Mike Calvin of Benton, AR; one aunt, Earlene Dawn of Dallas, TX; three uncles, Richard Johnson, Eudora, AR, Willie (Lucille) Calvin of Chicago, IL and Jimmy White, Sr. of Benton, AR. Dennis also leaves a host of nieces nephews, cousins and friends to mourn his passing.
