Obituary

Detriane Jamione Ireland was born October 7, 1975, in Lake Village, Arkansas to the late Sharon Booth and James Ireland. Trey (as he was affectionally known) attended schools in both the Dermott and Little Rock School Districts. His senior year he attended Dermott High School; however, he moved mid-year and graduated from J.A. Fair High School in 1994. The stars aligned in his favor on one hot summer day in 2008 when he offered to carry a bag of ice to Meleiah Cooper's car. She was instantly smitten by his charm. It was from this moment that a spark ignited and on November 19, 2011, the two entered a covenant with God when they united in holy matrimony. This sacred union came gifted with the blessing of his five sons: Devonja Johnson, Domonique Ireland, Demarcus Ireland, Jamion Ireland, and Kaylen Smith. The next year, the Ireland family expanded once again when God blessed this marriage with his only daughter, Noelle Ireland. At an early age, he accepted God's gift of salvation and he faithfully served God until he heard the Master say, "Well done thy good and faithful servant." He was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church. For many years he worked with the church's youth intervention program as coach and later became the coordinator for the program. St. John's youth basketball team was his passion, and he also sang with the Young Men's Ensemble. Coach Ireland loved his St. John family, and they could depend on him to dutifully coordinate the after school activities for the Unto Others Youth Intervention Program sponsored by the church. He was an excellent orator; one could hear his deep voice boom as he read scripture or provided a prayer. He coached peewee football for many years for the Sunset Tigers and the Southwest Buccaneers. After his sons aged out of peewee football and began playing basketball in middle school, he started a team for his sons and their friends. After years of coaching with the Arkansas Kings and later the Arkansas Celtics, he achieved his dream of starting his own youth basketball club with the Amateur Athletic Union. So, in 2012, Arkansas Redstorm Youth Basketball Club was born. His greatest enthusiasm was the ability to mentor youth; while creating an opportunity for boys to utilize resources and thrive beyond the basketball court. Under his leadership, many of the programs successfully transitioned delinquent behaviors of youth from negative interactions to a display of positive conduct. He had a deep compassion for God's children, especially those that were often overlooked. This passion sparked a desire for serving the community and taking his passion into the classroom. Trey came from a long line of educators and aspired to go to college and obtain a degree in education. In 2015, he matriculated to Harding University and graduated magnum cum laude with a Bachelor of Art in Middle Level Education. He was employed by the Pulaski County Special School District. In teaching he aimed to create an atmosphere of learning in a safe and stimulating environment; one in which he taught to the whole student, facilitate independent thinking, and guided students to meet their fullest potential. Trey had a fervent heart for his family and friends. Not only was he being brilliant husband and tremendous father, but he was also a fantastic friend, an amazing brother, and an awesome baker. Him and Noelle could really mess up a kitchen; but when the oven timer went off, the reward would be delicious baked good. He was a true comedian and told the best stories. Trey was welcomed home by Sharon A. Booth, mother; J.D. and Eddie Mae Ireland, grandparents; D.C. and Mary Moseley, great-grandparents. Trey leaves to cherish his memory; a finer wife of 13 years, Meleiah Cooper Ireland; wise father and bonus mother, James and Annette Ireland of Little Rock, AR outstanding sons, Devonja Johnson of Malvern, AR, Domonique Ireland, Demarcus Ireland, Jamion Ireland of Little Rock, AR, Kaylen Smith of Jacksonville, FL; diva daughter, Noelle Ireland of Little Rock, AR; wonderful grandchildren, Dezhani, Jamari, and Izzabella; excellent brothers, Neldrin Booth of Jacksonville, FL, Jarrett Daniels of Little Rock, AR and Andrew Bradford (Kenyata) of Bryant, AR; elite sisters, Jennifer Adams of Fort Worth, TX, Arien Booth, Angela Bradford, Amanda Swift, Anita Hart-McNair all of Little Rock, AR; awesome nephews, Collin, Andrew, Devan, Jamonte; amazing nieces, Tamia, Adaja, Autumn, Maliya, Za'Kiyah, Ahyana, Alaexandria, and a great host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He's Only Gone on Ahead He's only gone on ahead of you, Not just left you behind. Although you can't be with him right now, He lives on in your heart and mind. The day will come when you'll meet again On Heaven's distant shore, And the two of you will walk hand in hand Together forever more.
