Deacon John Thomas Alexander Sr., known affectionately as JT, gracefully departed this earthly life on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, to join his Heavenly Father. He was born on March 15, 1936, to his loving parents, Richard Alexander and Salena Barrett, in Eudora, AR. A devoted Christian, John lived his life with unwavering faith, compassion, and love. He possessed a remarkable singing voice, a generous spirit, and a willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a beacon of light in his community and beyond. John was ordained as a deacon at King James MB Church, where he served faithfully for over 30 years. He was a pillar of the church, serving as a member of the deacon board, Sunday school leader, and a valued member of the men's choir. John's passion for God was evident in every aspect of his life, and he never hesitated to share the goodness of the Lord with others. John married the love of his life, Gloria Jean Aikens, on January 20, 1973, and together they raised seven children. He was a dedicated husband and father, always putting his family first. John worked with the US Corp of Engineering for over 30 years as a cook, leaving a lasting impact on his colleagues and community. He loved his work and continued to serve until his partial retirement in 2003, working each season until December 31, 2010, for a total of 33 years. John is reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Gloria Jean Alexander, and his parents, Richard Alexander Sr. and Salena Barrett; four brothers: HL Jones, Richard Alexander Jr., Edward 'Pepper' Alexander, and Arthur 'Rabbit' Alexander; and two sisters, Willie Mae Keith and Ruthie Mae 'Huncey' Alexander and two grandchildren Demaurian Keith Jr. & Sharayne Glass. He is survived by his ten children: Lee Dale 'Ricky' Alexander Sr., Mildred Alexander-Jones, Greg Alexander, John Thomas Alexander Jr., Regina A. (David) Shengulette, Toby Alexander Sr., Angela R. Alexander, Adrian P. (Lacey) Alexander, Robinette Alexander (Thomas) Eckers, and Tiffany Alexander (Patrick) Perry; sister: Barbara Penn and brother: Charles Alexander Sr. He also leaves behind 26 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will cherish his memory forever. John's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, faith, and joy will continue to inspire and uplift those whose lives he touched. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
