John Wayne "Johnny" Stephens, 84 of Gurdon, Arkansas was granted his Angel Wings on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. He was born to the late Samuel and Hester Dickens Stephens in Kansas, Arkansas on March 30, 1938. He attended Bell High School in Gurdon, Arkansas. He accepted Christ at a young age. He attended Providence A.M.E. Church under the leadership of Reverend B.C. Lockhart of Kansas, Arkansas. He later united with Way to Ministries of Gurdon, Arkansas. Johnny was employed at Jester Logging Company for many years. Johnny was preceded in death by his aforementioned parents. One grandson, James King of Malvern, Arkansas. Those left to cherish his legacy: Six Daughters: Cherelyn Kay King and Gwen(Billy)Buckley both of Malvern, Arkansas, Rhonda Stephens and Raeshawn Stephens both of Gurdon, Arkansas, Stephanie(Antoine)Baldwin of California and LaKetric Allen of Florida; Brother: J.N.(Clea)Stephens of Gurdon, Arkansas; Two Sisters: Sametta(Robert)Winn and Flossetta Gray both of Cleveland, Ohio; Twelve grandchildren, Eighteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews,relatives and friends. Happy the man, and happy he alone, He who can call today his own: He who, secure within, can say, Tomorrow do thy worst, for I have lived today. Be fair or foul or rain or shine The joys I have possessed, in spite of fate, are mine. Not Heaven itself upon the past has power, But what has been, has been, and I have had my hour.
