IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karen Denise
Harris
February 24, 1957 – March 22, 2023
Karen Denise Harris, 66, left us on March 22, 2023 with her family by her side at Arbor Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center Malvern, AR. Karen Denise Parsons Harris was born February 24, 1957 in Saint Louis, Missouri to the late Louis Freeman Parsons Sr., and Florence Moore. She graduated from Fordyce High School in 1976 and attended College at the Rehab Center in Hot Springs where she was chosen as Mrs. Congeniality for having the best personality, where she met and married Major Harris. After graduation, they moved to Little Rock, AR, and pursued her career in Banking as a Teller and served in that profession for many years. Karen and her husband decided to leave Arkansas and moved to Aurora, Colorado where she continued as a Teller working in the bank in Colorado. At an early age Karen dedicated her life to Christ under the leadership of Pastor James Goodwin. Some things in life you never forget and that is so true according to the Word of God from Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way that he should go; when he is old he will not depart from it." No matter how far or how distant you are away from home that scripture will speak for itself. Karen joined Colorado Baptist and held an office as a Choir Director for many years. Karen was well known as a soloist and was performing in many gospel groups. As time moves on so did Karen and her husband Major as they returned back to Arkansas and started rebuilding their life to new beginnings. Karen and her husband started their new beginning in Fordyce for many years then moving to Newport, Arkansas where her husband Major decided to go and be with his mother to assist in becoming a Caregiver. As sad as it was Major had the opportunity to spend time with his mother but later on the Lord called him home July 30, 2018. Now an empty void was left with Karen, so she moved back to Fordyce wondering which way to go but once again remember Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child, so Karen and her husband joined The Light House Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Roderick Rogers as her health begin to fail she later on moved to Malvern, Arkansas and joined The Word Center Ministry under the leadership of her sister Pastor Beverly Hawkins until present. She loved her family and was always active regardless of her health condition. She would go with her church family The Word Center Ministry on every 1st Sunday of the month to Arbor Oaks Nursing Home and sing with us on many occasions and they loved her singing until one day she became a resident in the facility. She was already familiar with the staff and residents and welcomed her new home. She was chosen as Queen of the Month and everyone knew Mrs. Karen Harris as she would go up and down the hall with her elegant voice singing. Some of the residents would call her the singing lady. Her favorite song was My Soul is Anchored in the Lord. Though the storms keep on raging in my life; and sometimes it's hard to tell the night from day. But if the storms don't cease my soul has been anchored in the Lord. Karen Harris was proceeded in death by her husband Major Harris, her father Louis Freeman Parsons Sr., her brother Louis Freeman Parsons Jr., her brother in law Minister Michael Hawkins, Ivory S. Grigsby (Granny), Killis Grigsby, Cornelius Parsons (Big Mama) and Roel Parsons (Big Daddy). She is survived by her mother Mrs. Florence P. Moore of Fordyce, AR; 6 Sisters: Pastor Beverly Hawkins of Malvern, AR, Marjorie Finks(Michael) of Las Vegas, Ivory Green(Lawrence) of Fordyce, AR, Monica Parsons Brady, Tiffany Parsons of St. Louis and Lynette Parsons of Fresno, CA. 4 Brothers: Brian Parsons(Stephanie), Jason Parsons of St. Louis, Eric Parsons of Birmingham, Alabama, Eric Scott(Vickie) of Fordyce, AR and Carlos Westbrook(April) of Malvern, AR. Aunt: Melvia Dean Parsons of Smackover, AR. She also has 3 Step-Sisters; Janice M. Duson, Gwendolyn Moore, Stephanie Moore of Little Rock, AR and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, cousins and friends. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. Psalm 23 Samuel L.
