IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mammie Bell
Morgan
October 7, 1951 – March 10, 2021
On October 7, 1951, in Malvern, Arkansas, Thomas Manual Bailey and Roester Bailey were blessed with a beautiful child named Mammie Bell Morgan. She was kind, very intelligent and received Christ at a young age. Mammie attended Malvern High School and graduated from Ouachita Vocational Technical School in 1973 with a diploma in Business Education. She also loved subjects regarding geography and history. Mammie and Larry first saw each other when she was 3 years old and he was 6 years when Mammie's Dad was delivering firewood to his house. Then they met with a smile in a 7th grade study hall. However, it wasn't until after Larry returned from the Army when their love was able to fully bloom after attending the Ouachita Vocational Technical School. A modern woman in a traditional time, Mammie first worked with her Father. Then worked in several factories such as Curtis Matthis (TVs) Levi Strauss (Blue Jeans) and Timex (Watches). After marriage, Mammie decided it was more important to devote her time to growing her family which included her daughters Azalea and Patrice, as well as, sons Larry Jr., Lawrence, Michael and Cliff. Once her kids were school aged, she again worked to support the family by working in places such as Nursing Homes and Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital as a cook. She also briefly joined other establishments such as Taco Bell and Aalfs which manufactured jeans. Mammie shared 46 years of marriage with Larry Sr. As loving parents, they instilled morals, values, and actively displayed being a Godly example to their kids and the community. In fact, Mammie would cook and clean for people in the community just out of the goodness of her heart. She enjoyed being creative through hobbies such as cooking, sewing, gardening and even song writing. And, also collected recipe books, souvenirs and coffee mugs. In addition, Mammie had a thirst for knowledge which lead her to do things such as learning how to play the keyboard and never starved her desire to gain more knowledge. On Wednesday, 10 March 2021, our Lord welcomed Mammie Bell Morgan into Glory and His Rest. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Roester Bailey, brothers, Thomas Bailey Jr., Jessie Bailey, Joe Bailey, and sister, Silvia McNeely. Mammie Morgan was well loved by a host of family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband of forty-six years, Larry Morgan, sons, Larry Jr., Lawrence, Michael, Cliff, daughters, Azalea and Patrice, sister, Minnie Matlock, brothers, Paul Bailey, Albany Bailey, granddaughters, Christian Morgan, Monique Yuoh, Gabriella Yuoh, Maleigha Morgan, Jasmine Morgan, Cassandra Morgan, grandsons, Evan Melendez, Zechariah Morgan, Gbobi Yuoh II, Kaifa Yuoh, Kabili Yuoh, Michael Morgan Jr., and Malachi Morgan. As well as a host of nieces and nephews
My Mother Kept A Garden
My Mother kept a garden. A garden of the heart; She planted all the good things, That gave my life it's start. She turned me to the sunshine, And encouraged me to dream: Fostering and nurturing The seeds of self-esteem. And when the winds and rains came, She protected me enough; But not too much, she knew I'd need To stand up strong and tough. Her constant good example, Always taught me right from wrong; Markers for my pathway To last my whole life long.
I am my Mother's garden, I am her legacy. And I hope today she feels the love, Reflected back from me.~Anon
