Mary Joyce Anderson (aka Mae Joyce), a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully on November 8th. 2025 at the age of 84. Mary was born on May 7th, 1941 in Benton, Arkansas to Mabel Johnson and Tommy Taylor. Mary attended Dunbar High School and went to work in the housekeeping and the CNA field before becoming a homemaker. Mary was best known for her loving,caring, feisty, joking, selfless, and down to earth personality. The positive impact that she had on both her family and community will be long remembered. To know her was to love her. On August 12th, 1985, Mary married James Lee Anderson their love brought forth a baby girl named Angela Una Anderson. Mary is survived by her brother (Billie Poe of California), sister (Velma Mouton of Florida) and her six children whom she loved dearly: Dorothy Brown, Charles Johnson (LaTresa Carter-Johnson), Stephan Johnson, Jerome Johnson(Brenda Johnson), Octavius Johnson, and Angela Aikens (Willie D. Aikens). Mary leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers ( Wayne Johnson and Larry Griffin), sister (Dorothy Jasper), and youngest son (Gary L. Dirden). The family would like to thank Elite Home Health and Elite Hospice for all of their assistance and care for our loved one.
