Obituary

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8

Time with its never-ending flight has brought us to this place of life to give our last respects to brother Maverick Lewis Russell, known as "MR. MR" or "MR. MLR". His spirit went to join our Savior on January 11, 2026, at The Crossing at Riverside Nursing Home in Searcy, AR.

Maverick was proceeded in departure from this life by his mother Bernadine Russell Wiley. He confessed to Christ and joined Union Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor David Wilson. Maverick graduated from Clarendon High School in 1976. He was an honor student, a member of the CHS Band, and received an outstanding achievement award in band. He loved music and could play every instrument. His favorite instrument was the tuba. Maverick's hobby was reading; he would read every page of the newspaper. He also loved socializing with family and friends.

Maverick leaves to cherish his memory two sons; Reginald Amos (Christina) Searcy, AR and Rashond Russell (Marissa) Jonesboro, AR. Five grandchildren; Amani Amos, Savannah Amos, Lyric Amos, Jade Amos, and Cairo Russell. Three sisters; Brenda Russell of Stuttgart, AR, Mynette Wiley and Alice Wiley Smith both of Clarendon, AR. One brother; Dino Bradley of San Francisco, CA and a host of nieces and nephews.

My soul melts away for sorrow; strengthen me according to your word.
