Obituary

Mrs. Pearl A. Iverson was born November 17, 1949, in Pastoria, Arkansas, an example of resilience and determination from a young age. Pearl's life was filled with faith and family, she learned the true essence of unity and support that would shape her legacy. As a child, sibling, devoted wife, and loving mother, Pearl's journey was one of hard work, dedication, and unwavering faith in God. At an early age, Pearl's commitment to her faith led her to Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church, where she was baptized and began a life of steadfast devotion and service. With a thirst for knowledge and a heart full of dreams, Pearl graduated from the esteemed Townsend Park High School in the spring of 1967. In 1977, she joined in holy matrimony with Rufus L. Iverson, and together they raised two daughters, a testament to the love and unity that Pearl held dear. The family united with Watkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Pearl's warm smile and gracious spirit brought comfort and joy to all who knew her. She served in various capacities, but her true calling was as a missionary, dedicated to helping others in need. Pearl shared selflessly her time, her talent as well as her treasure; for over 40 years until her health declined in 2020. Into the very fabric of Pearl's being was hard work. Her career spanned Jefferson County, from UAPB's Environmental Services to feeding children at Jenkins Memorial. She served as activity director at Jefferson County Nursing Home and her compassionate care extended to private sitter services at Trinity Village and Area Agency Home Health, where she retired after twenty years of service. Pearl's dedication went beyond her career, as she tirelessly volunteered, preparing meals for the elderly, and working with Sisters of Charity, Jefferson County Extension Homemakers, and the Salvation Army. Pearl took joy in visiting nursing homes often and serving as an Ombudsman for Jefferson County, advocating for those who needed a voice. Pearl's laughter was infectious, and her generosity was never-ending. Known affectionately as "The Hat Lady" she graced women's day programs and Sunday evening services with her presence. A highlight of events was the annual Mother's Day Service at Morris Chapel. Through every challenge, she turned to Psalms 91, finding solace in the words that reminded her that she was never alone. She encouraged everyone to impart this book in their faith walk. Even in the face of failing health, she continued to serve, singing in the choir and assisting with social work at The Blossoms at Woodland Hills. Pearl's legacy is one of service and compassion. With hearts heavy yet filled with gratitude for a life well-lived Pearl peacefully passed away on Sunday, August 6,2023 at The Blossoms at Woodland Hills. Although gone from this earthly realm, Pearl's humble countenance and affirming, "Yes, Ma'am" will forever resonate in our hearts and our treasured memories. She would often share God's goodness and the blessings that so graciously besot her family. Pearl leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Earline Anderson; her husband, Rufus Iverson; mother and father-in-law, Berry and Everlenia Iverson; her siblings, Alice Crumpton and Lillie Anderson; in-laws, Cornelious Iverson and Rev. Leroy Smith, Sr., Elnatha Wilkins, Magalene Massey, Deloris Iverson, and Versie Cogshell. She is survived by her loving daughters, Earlene (Dwight) Holland of Pine Bluff, AR, and Everlenia Iverson of Little Rock, AR; her adored grandchildren, Samuel Macaway, Destiny Brown, of Pine Bluff and Devontae Brown of Little Rock, AR; her siblings, Missionary Christine Smith and Sarah (Rufus, Sr.) Harding of Pine Bluff, AR, Robert (Kathie) Anderson and Earl (Betty) Anderson of White Hall, AR; her uncle, Lee Willie (Helen) Hayman of Flint, MI; her goddaughter, Frantrise (Lorenza) Hill of Jacksonville, AR; her in-laws, Willie (Norma) Iverson of Pine Bluff, AR, Iona Christopher, Bessie Iverson, Evelyn Jean Iverson of Pastoria, AR, and Pauline (Jesse) Anderson of Little Rock, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a community that holds her memory dear. As we remember Pearl's life and reflect on her many contributions, let us find comfort in the legacy she leaves behind. Her humble spirit, infectious laughter, and unwavering faith will forever be etched in our hearts. Rest in eternal peace, dear Pearl, knowing that your love and service have made this world a better place.
