Mr. Percy Sergeant Jr. was born January 10, 1967 in Chicago, IL; the loving son of the late Percy Sr. and Condolia Sergeant. He departed this life Sunday, April 5, 2020 at Methodist Hospital, Memphis, TN.

Sergeant gave himself to Christ at United Missionary Baptist Church at the age of 11. He loved the Lord and he served him until his sight deteriorate. He served in the choir as a young believer and served as a door keeper at United MBC and New Direction. Family knew him as Buddy, his friends and customers knew him as simply Sarg. Percy was a Sargant for the Arkansas Department of Corrections for 15 plus years. He worked side by side day and night with his dad from a little boy as a mechanics apprentice before becoming a self-made master mechanic. Pine Bluff was at a loss when his health began to fail and he was not able to pursue his love of working on cars. Nevertheless, he still gave a gallant effort to do what he could and instructed those who would listen. All he had to do was take a moment, close his eyes and listen and the problem was diagnosed. If he couldnt do it he would tell you how or point you in the right direction to get it done the right way.

Mr. Sergeant was a family man. He loved to have backyard Bar-B-Ques, play the blues and just have a good time. When he wanted to relax he loved to ride his Gold Wing until the sun set. He was the family comedian, always full of laugh and jokes. He loved football and traveling. There wasnt a car that he could not fix and he fixed them with much skill and pride.

He was preceded in death by father Percy Segeant Sr.;brother: Gerald Merrick; sister: Demetria Sergeant

He leaves behind to cherish his memory: two beautiful daughters, Octavia Sergeant of Memphis, TN and Jada Sergeant of Pine Bluff, AR; the love of his life Rhonda Reese of Memphis, TN, where they resided and where he took his final rest; his supportive mother Condolia Sergeant of Pine Bluff, AR; five sisters Angelia Beckford and Darlene Shavers of Pine Bluff, AR, Mala (Will) Holiday and Octavia Sergeant of Vacaville, CA, and Veronica Weston of Wayne, MI; two brothers Kelvin (Sharon) Sergeant of Pine Bluff, AR and Clifton (Kaneshia) Sergeant of Grady, AR; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends and a special childhood friend (brother) Tyrone McKnight.

Crossing the Bar

Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have cross'd the bar.
