Obituary

Raymond Charles Jones was born on November 19, 1954, to Charles Jones and Lovely Ann Martin in Dermott, Arkansas. His mother Lovely Ann married Clyde Morgan and together they raised Raymond and his sisters in McGehee, Arkansas. Raymond graduated from McGehee High School and later attended vocational school in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was a proud employee of Union Pacific Railroad where he initially worked as a Brakeman and Conductor. Raymond later received his license as an Engineer. He was known as a diligent worker who paid exceptional attention to detail. Throughout his career, he trained numerous associates who later also became engineers. On a warm sunny day at a baseball park in McGehee, Arkansas, Raymond met the love of his life, Laverne Smith. They married on October 20, 1979, in Malvern, Arkansas. Raymond professed his love for Christ in 1981 through the ministry of Rev. Don Moses. He was baptized by Rev. Sherman Redwood, Sr. and joined Eastern Star Baptist Church. Raymond cherished family gatherings with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Raymond enjoyed traveling and was an avid fan of the New York Knicks. His favorite hobby was admiration, driving, and working on cars. He restored his 1969 Camero and regularly repaired cars for many families and friends. His love of cars transferred to a love of the Indianapolis 500 and he attended many of these events yearly. Cherishing his loving memory, Raymond leaves his wife of 45 years Laverne Jones of North Little Rock, Arkansas; sons Rodney Jones of Little Rock, Arkansas; Marshall (Adrienne) Jones of North Little Rock, Arkansas; and Quincy Jones of North Little Rock, Arkansas; sisters Bettye (Chris) Bennett of Little Rock, Arkansas; Clydetta Morgan of Little Rock, Arkansas; Barbara Bates of Chicago, Illinois; Shirley Jones of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; the apples of his eye, his grandchildren Solomon, Malcolm and Penelope Jones of North Little Rock, Arkansas and a host of relatives and friends. Can't wait to see Him, look upon His face, bow down before Him, thank Him for His grace. Shake hands with the elders, the twenty and the four, say hello to my loved ones who fought on before. Time will be my friend, day will never end, summer, winter, spring or fall, won't have to come at all. Samuel L. Vance & Sons Funeral Directors " The Epitome of Service "
