IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roscoe
Booth
November 9, 1927 – January 29, 2025
Roscoe Booth known as "Pawpaw", "Poppa Rock", "Roscoe P. Coaltrain" or "Buck" was born November 9,1927 to Mahalia Moss and Theopolis Booth. On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, God's trumpet sounded, and he called Roscoe Booth to his heavenly home. Roscoe was preceded in death by his oldest daughter Verna Dell Gipson, his parents Mahalia Moss McBride and Theopolis Booth Glasper stepfather Floyd McBride Sr, his maternal grandparents Willie and Mary Jones Moss, his paternal grandparents John Booth and Izora Bryant Booth Nalls, Five Brothers Floyd McBride, Jr, Robert McBride, William "Billy" McBride, Charlie Glasper, Bennie J. Glasper one sister Farris Ann Marlow. In March 1950 he met the woman who became his wife on December 10, 1950, Willie B. Marshall. And to this union they welcomed four beautiful girls: Stefania Elaine, Phyllis Lorraine, Rosialyn Vernice and Barbara Teresa. He maintained for 74 years the promise he made to Willie's parents, Mark and Lillian Marshall, to love, protect and provide for her as long as he lived, and he did. He was taught by his maternal grandfather strong work ethics. He was employed at the Acme Brick Company prior to his marriage until 1953 when he was hired at Reynolds Metal Company until his retirement in 1987. After his retirement he worked at Anthony Timberland for over 10 years, and he also worked at Oaklawn Racetrack after that he became a personal taxi for his grandchildren ,necies or which family member needed a ride picking up and dropping them for school and their after-school activities. They had no worries, just called Pawpaw, he had covered them. He shared with the family recently that he was baptized at a very early age at New Director Missionary Baptist Church Perla, AR, where the Moss family and Bryant families were pillars in that church and the community. He confessed his hope in Christ in 1997 under the pastorage of the late Superintendent John W Harrison Calvary Church of God In Christ. During a home visit in 2024 Elder Larry Moore was inspirational with Mr. Booth rededication of his life to Christ, In the last years we, the family, noticed a change in his TV viewing. Not many of his favorites such as court shows, western shows, and wrestling. They no longer dominated his TV time. What began to dominate his TV time was Jimmy Swagger. You may not have seen him on the pews in your church, but trust us, he was reclined in his favorite chair, attending church with his pastor, Jimmy Swagger, for many hours of the day. This is where he found his joy and became a faithful member. Roscoe leaves to cherish his love and memory to Willie B.
