Obituary

On April 16, 1935, Virginia Amos Young was born to the late Dave and Cleora Amos. Virginia grew up in Malvern, Arkansas, where she was sitting on her back porch and met the "Love of Her Life," the late Raleigh B. Young, Sr., whom she married on May 14, 1955. To this union, Virginia and Raleigh had five children. Raleigh adopted Virginia's son, Kirk Douglas Fraction, and raised him as his own. Virginia and Raleigh raised their first grandchild, Andrea K. Young, as their seventh child. Virginia was a member of West End Church of God and Christ under the watch of Elder R. N. Sanders. In Virginia's early adulthood, she transitioned and moved her membership to First Baptist Church where Reverend N. B. Russey was Pastor, and where she was a Deaconess, President of Pastor's Aide Society, member of Roberta Shorty Circle, member of the Senior Choir, Sunday School Teacher of Class #4, and Kitchen Committee member. Virginia touched many lives with her infectious laugh and her sweet nature. She opened her home to many and accepted them as her children, allowing them to live in the home. She took care of them, nurtured and gave them guidance until they felt comfortable enough to make it in the world. She never forced anyone out of the home and made sure they had a safe place to live. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Cleora Amos; her husband, Raleigh B. Young, Sr.; sisters Quinnie Mae Smith and Ola Mae Smalley; son, Kirk D. Young; and daughter, Janice Young Newburn. Those left to keep her memory alive are sons, Bobby (Helen) Young, Odis (Felecia); daughters, Teresa (Doyle) Napper, Marie (Alan) McClain, and Andrea K. Young. Virginia also leaves behind her best friend of many years, Dorothy Mae Reed, 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Smile for the Ages by Todd Nigro Ellie, each day with you was special, it's hard to express, I loved your voice, smile, laugh, and your sweet tenderness. Your joyful, playful spirit was such a contagious one, A minute in your presence was bursting with fun. I always enjoyed our adventures playing on the beach, It's heart breaking to realize you're not within my reach. You were so amazing and beautiful in so many ways, Sincere, giving, and loving through all of your days. I wish I could hug you right now, why did you have to go? These days are hard without you, but this you should know, When the day comes to join you in that heavenly place, A beautiful smile for the ages will be on my face!
